Need hlep for AM3 cooler
« on: 03/07/10 - 09:11 AM »
I was hoping to get some feedback on what everyone is using for their AMD based systems. Nearly all of the heatsinks out there position the fans exhausting out the side of the case and I was trying to find a good cooler for an AMD chip that blows the air over the VRMs and out the back. That or feedback on temp comparisons with airflow going either way would be helpful. It would seem a top-down based cooler would have higher temps in the V2E because of the lower ceiling directly above the socket.

Any heatsink opinions are welcome! One thing I am doing now is running a Xigmatek Thors hammer in their with the fan in a pull configuration so the fan is on the outside. On that subject, do you have to lift up the PSU bracket to fit a TRUE in the case because the Hammer will not go in unless you do an that just seems like a REALLY tight fit. thanks.

Hey OV,

You can use an Enzotech mounting bracket to orient the AM3 tower heatsinks front to back. It required some very minor modding but worked well...

nice will definitely do! So did you use the mod for a TRUE? If so I might pick one up from work or get a megahelam. Sweet mod though and good to know. thanks!

I have a Xigmatek Dark Knight with the Enzotech bracket all ready modded and ready to drop in if you want it. It was originally in the yellow'n'black rig but the customer who bought it wanted an Intel mobo so the heatsink is leftover parts. $25 + shipping and it's all yours.
