;D Awesome info, thanks!  I'll definitely check out both options.

Yup... I believe Ultra also offers a short cable kit that should fit most modular PSU's. Either way, I typically load the optical drive in the top bay and stuff the PSU cables into the middle bay where you can still add shorter I/O, card reader, fan controller, etc. bay devices.

If I can add something useful, Silverstone technology sells for his modular Strider Plus series a specific set of short modular cables to easily fit an SFF system. I think that Strider Plus series is the best choice to build a powerful SFF, moreover the lenght of this psu series is only 160mm, I'm sure it can fit perfectly a Qmicra case ;)

I have a technical question related to the dimensions...I'm having my PSU cables unisleeved and I'm wondering from the bottom of the top bracket (holding the PSU) to the bottom of the case, how many inches is it?  I was thinking that 11" cables should be sufficient length, or have I underestimated? ???

It's about 7" from the cage to the base bottom. There are holes in the base to snake cables thru and it's only a 1 cubic foot enclosure so don't worry... I've never seen a PSU that had cables which are too short to reach all the hardware. If anything, the main challenge is dealing with storing cables which are much longer than needed which is why modular cabling is ideal.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

Actually my idea is to build a durable high end SFF gaming system like this:
- i5 760 cpu @ liquid with Coolit Eco c240
- P55 chipset motherboard
- a couple of 460GTX in SLI
- 850W Silverstone strider plus psu with short cables optional set
- 2x3.5" Sata HDD (Data drive, raid 1)
- 1xSSD (system drive)
- DVD drive

Because I'd only use one optical drive, I could fit 3.5" had drives in the other 5.25" slot with adaptors. Moreover I see a build of a qmicra v2 in which the bottom was drilled in the space between motherboard and frontpanel to mount 2 2.5" drives direcrly on it (screwing them directly to the bottom of the case, form outside) but I'm not so sure I'd drill this beautiful case...
To hold two front fans, i could use Aluminium "L" Profiles, drilled to screw in the fan and fixed to the case with double sided strong tape, for example...

It's all in my head yet... 8)

As an update on the current run and pre-orders, many people at the builder were on vacation last week because of the holiday but I'm still on the case and pushing them hard to get our order built. I once again apologize for their delays and thanks for your patience as I get this sorted out.

Ciao Steven,

Thanks for being a long time follower of Qmicra. To answer your questions...

-We ship world wide via USPS International Priority air mail for approx. $50-$60 USD depending on your location. There may also be some duty on your end depending on your nation's trade laws.

-There are a total of 7x 120mm fan mounting locations... 1 in the back, 2 on each side of the cover and 2 on the rad bracket. There have never been standard fan mounts on the front but yes... I have seen some mod them in there although I've never felt they are needed. Where you mount them and how many used depends on hardware and configuration but you'd never mount all 7. In fact, a single rear fan is often enough for an air cooled rig when you bring the CPU, GPU and PSU fans into the equation.

For liquid cooling, you would mount 2 fans directly to the radiator which is attached to the internal rad bracket.  Anyway, it's only a 1 cubic foot case with plenty of venting so the air moves very quickly through the enclosure and the only time I've added fans in addition to the rear one for our system builds is to put one of the back left side to hit the graphics card directly. Just remember that because it's a small case, some trade-offs may need to be made such as 3.5" hard drives may occupy the space of the front-side fans, some large CPU heatsinks may occupy the space of the rad bracket fans, etc.

Finally, while we're on the subject of space concerns, note that you have approx. 14-3/8" to mount the PSU and optical drive end to end with a little room for cabling in between so be careful about trying to use the longer than normal 1000W power supplies along with the longer BluRay drives. Outside of those few considerations, you can fit a ton of high performance hardware in the case and cool it extremely well.

Hope this answers your questions!

Hi, I'm Steven from Italy, I'm following Qmicra Qv2 evolution since its birth. I'm thinking about changing my actual configuration before 2011, and I'd like to use this new revision of Qmica case to build my gaming rig. (Will it be available in Europe??)

I've a question for you: In Qmicra V2F Specifications I read I can mount up to 7x120mm fans, is it right?
I suppose I can mount a couple of them on both sidepanels and another one on the rear, but where can I mount the other two? In the back of the front panel?
I looked for some images of qmicra v2 all over the web and i found that some user mount them there, but I can't see holes on frontpanel to screw them in...did they used an homemade soutions or what else??

Regards, Steven

I talked with the builder and confirmed that the delay was due to the laser cutter being down and it also turns out that their brake press operator was injured which didn't help matters. We went through our job step by step and made sure that everything that can be done has been done to prevent further delays and our order is up right now on their job cue so it shouldn't be much longer.

Once again, thank you for your patience and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
